What is Hastelloy?
Hastelloy® is an extremely versatile nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy that offers excellent resistance to pitting and cracking corrosion.
Properties of Hastelloy
At Smith Bullough, we use Hastelloy C276 and C22 in the manufacture of our bolts and fasteners.
The Molybdeneum content ensures that Hastelloy is strong at high temperatures, making it ideal for welding applications.
Hastelloy C276
Hastelloy C276 is used in a variety of chemical environments, as it offers exceptional resistance to corrosion from both oxidising and non-oxidising acids.
Hastelloy C22
Increased chromium content means that Hastelloy C22 offers superior overall corrosion resistance when compared with C276.
While performance is generally similar to C276 in reducing environments, Hastelloy C22 provides better protection in non-reducing and oxidising environments.
