Inconel
Inconel is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy.
High tensile strength, resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion as well as high corrosion fatigue strength are properties that make Inconel ideal for usage in seawater applications.
Outstanding corrosion resistance under a range of temperatures and pressures is a key reason why Inconel is also widely used in the aerospace, nuclear and chemical processing industries.
Industries
Inconel fasteners are in regular use within the following sectors:
- Aerospace
- Nuclear
- Chemical Processing
- Oil & Gas
Applications
- Aircraft
- Propeller shafts
- Plant equipment
- Chemical processing equipment
- Gas turbines
Hastelloy
Hastelloy® is an extremely versatile nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy that offers excellent resistance to pitting and cracking corrosion.
The Molybdeneum content ensures that Hastelloy is strong at high temperatures, making it ideal for welding applications.
Hastelloy is also used in a variety of chemical environments, as it offers exceptional resistance to corrosion from both oxidising and non-oxidising acids.
Industries
Excellent corrosion resistance coupled with toughness at high temperatures means that Hastelloy fasteners are used across a wide range of industries, including:
- Chemical Process Industry
- Nuclear
- Oilfield
Applications
- Reactors
- Pressure vessels
- Heat exchangers
- Columns
Monel
A nickel-copper alloy, Monel offers high strength, weldability and excellent corrosion resistance in many environments, including seawater, hydrofluoric acid, sulphuric acid and alkalis.
Monel is tough over a wide range of temperatures, offering good mechanical properties at subzero temperatures and can be used in temperatures as high as 1000F.
Corrosion resistance is broadly similar to nickel, but Monel offers higher maximum working pressures and temperatures alongside improved machining ability.
Industries
Due to superior corrosion resistance and toughness over a wide temperature range, Monel 400 fasteners and bolts are used across a wide array of industries.
- Marine
- Chemical Processing
Applications
- Chemical processing equipment
- Valves and pumps
- Gasoline and freshwater tanks
- Pumps and propellor shafts
- Boiler feed water heaters and heat exchangers
- Electronic components
